An exploratory course on visual communication (specifically a subset of communication arts), intended for me to formalize my scattered thoughts, ideas and beliefs on the subject.

Reflection & Planning

🎯 Course objectives

By undertaking this research course, I hope to:

  1. be able to map different fields of interest under visual communication (such as web and UI/UX design, prototyping, graphic design, visual arts, data visualization, photography & videography, etc.)
  1. be able to recall, recognize, practice and apply visual design principles and concepts broadly (in all my output with a visual aspect, which is everything if I have a say about it)
  1. create a literature note or MOC on visual communication

🤝 Intersectionality statement

As a Communications major and practitioner, communication arts are my life’s blood, but I’ve thus far specialized in the linguistic, written and spoken. Visual communication is something that’s been a part of my life in a less formal way, in the form of appreciation or as a bonus skill, and it’s also something that’s frustrated me as I couldn’t be “good” at it the way I was with words.

This course will help add an aspect of beauty and visual impact to all of my work — visual aids, layouting, design presentation, personal branding and delivery, and more.
